  2. They have been in the hands of some relations and for sometime have been circulated among the brethren. The great grandfather of my grandmother, a Bro. Woods Retherford is also in the picture and is believed responsible for the taking of it. There also is an Elder Annis, Elder R. Thompson, Br. Frank Thompson , Br. M. Testerman and Br. C.M.Easly pictured, though no one is sure of all the positions. The original had these names attached to the back and a few others.

  8. Darren,
Thank You for posting these pictures.
Through some recent Family digging I believe Silas Points from the top picture is my Great Great Grandfather. My Grandmother was the child of Ellis Points & Pauline (Maiden name unknown). A relationship that was never spoken about in our family. My Grandmother seems to be the only child of this couple. I have found many other children listed for Ellis and his 2nd wife & Pauline went on to have many with her 2nd husband who raised my Grandmother.
Would there be any documents of the first marriage (around 1938) and / or divorce? Or more pictures?
    Thank You

    1. There are families with that last name in both Idaho and Oregon City. Out of respect for their privacy, please send an email and I will give you more specific information.

  9. I personally knew most of the people in your pictures. Was raised in the faith and still have close ties with the church people. I have remained under the radar for years and never alienated from them even though I never bought into it. I attended many of these baptisms and witnessed when a few of the men were called to preach and spoke in tongues. Unfortunately I also know about the suffering of many children and deaths that were never investigated or autopsies performed. Where do you draw the line between the rights of the children and the rights of adults to worship as they see fit?

  13. I have different names for the top picture of the preachers and elders. I found this picture in a family bible along with a list of people and the position they held in the church. Many were Idaho FOC members. Merritt Cunningham was my great-uncle. I am related to most if not all of the men in the picture.

This is the list that was with the picture that I have:
    Charlie Young (Elder &Preacher), Walter White(P),Vern Baldwin(P),John Carpenter(Teacher),Oliver Smith(P),John Hunter (P),Charlie Mauser (E),Walt White (E),Milan Rosenbery(E),Merritt Cunningham(P),George White(P),Tim Clampitt(E),Ralph Young(E),Silas Points(E),Alvin Duncan(E), Kneeling front row: Verl Young(E),Johnny Martin(E),Art Baker(E)

  14. Hi: I only today found your blog and these pictures, most of which I've never seen before. They're awesome! I have a copy of the top one but there are some discrepancies in the names and dates. I was told the one labeled "Brother Walt" was Walt White, the old elder from Picabo, Idaho. Well, Walt White of Picabo died in 1917, at least twenty years before this was taken, so was there another Walt White? We did not, however, know the forehead was George. Now that I know, it looks just like him!

P.S. the anonymous poster above has the same names as I do, except the spelling of Charley Mouser's name (he was a relative).

Anyhow, I'm bookmarking and I'll check back to see if anyone has a reply about "Walt White". That one is stumping a lot of people on my end too.
