For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
I feel we are in a time of apostasy and spiritual adultery. False prophets are sought out as speakers. Presenting the warm and fuzzy. Telling us what we want to hear rather than the truth. Never mentioning Heaven, Hell, Sin. The answer being redemption through the BLOOD OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. Again praying for discernment. Blessings to all in celebrating the Birth of JESUS. Merry Christmas has been replaced by Happy Holidays. Love to all in "HIS" name
I whole heartedly agree with what you just said, it does seem that people just want to have their ears tickled and their tummies rubbed, but is it fair to say that every group is like that? I think that might be a poor assumption to make, I often think of what The Lord said in Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you."
Now these are promises that we can believe in aren't they? I wonder what He meant by "seek and you will find"? People told me and others for years that we wouldn't find anything, people had already looked, but does the thought ever occour to anyone that the reason these people who have "looked" haven't been looking for the right thing? It's either God is true and men are liars, or vise versa, and I don't think anyone will state the latter, does the thought ever occour to anyone that maybe looking for the "right" church isn't the correct mindset? Maybe what The Lord meant in that verse is that whoever seeks Him will find Him not the "approved church"
So I must ask the reader, what is stopping you from seeking? What could be a better reason for not seeking? A social standing possibly? Let me ask this question is your comfort worth the price of your own soul? Aren't you tired of going to the same meetings and never getting any growth spiritually?
Happy New Year Brian : No it wouldn't be fair to put all groups in the warm and fuzzy seekers. We are a society of comfort mongers. Not all but many close their ears to the truth if it is uncomfortable. The demise of any great civilization is linked to ethical and moral decay and or the turning their backs on CHRIST. Sodom and Gomorah, the Great Flood, the fall of the Roman Empire ,just to sight a few. We I feel are entering the same scenario. "Beware of False Prophets" Joel Osteen a great speaker and I believe a man of GOD,. BUT when was the last time you heard him speak of Heaven, Hell, Sin, and the redemptive BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. It might offend somebody.. JESUS has been sacrificed for political correctness. I AM NOT WHERE I SHOULD BE, BUT I DO FEEL AT LEAST I AM HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. At least I hope so. HIS LOVE TO ALL.
