Twenty-two million Americans say they’re Christians,
but do not go to church. Why? Too many have been hurt by people in churches –
by other Christians. It’s a fact that is flaunted by atheists. Christians can
be hypocritical, judgmental, mean-hearted people. Why would someone want to have
anything to do with that?
When
Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the
physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.
Mark
2:17
Christians are not perfect. We sin, we make
mistakes, and we often do it again. We are the ones Jesus came to help. You are the one Jesus came to help and
to save. Please do not give up on Jesus based on your experience with some of
His imperfect followers.
Christians are capable of all the same emotions common to all humans. They just have supernatural help restraining the bad & expressing the good. The existence of the counterfeit proves the value of the real thing. Nobody counterfeits $1s.
ReplyDeleteWe are sinners ,therefor we do judge unjustly:
ReplyDeleteMatt.7:1-2
Romans@:-1
Romans14:10-13
These scriptures are very clear about that.
Saving a brother or sister from a fall:
Gal.6:1-2
Hebrews 10:24-25
Lord please help me not to judge, and reach out to others about to fall.
I pray my fellow Christians would do the same for me. Always remembering "How can we be forgiven if we don't forgive"
Lord please open my heart and the heart
of those I have offended to grant the mercy and grace you have extended to us.In JESUS name
I totally agree with you! I hear so many people leave "the church" - not just the physical building, but the actual lifestyle and way of living - just because of PEOPLE. Imperfect, rude, sinful people!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I don't believe in religion - I believe in following Christ.
Thank you again for your blog. Particularly when they are your posts. All are good but yours seem far more pertinent.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the way it prompts me to examine my own beliefs and why. God will only convict us of our sins as we are prepared to handle them(I think ), if they all came at once it would be overwhelming.
Granted church and "RELIGION" are imperfect , but aren't we all.
This journey was not designed to do alone. We never know whom we may impact.Perhaps we are there to be a witness to the hypocrit or the judgemental.
We need to be mindful we are here to "FOLLOW CHRIST" not lead.
Wishing all the blessings and mercy we enjoy in CHRIST.
This has thankfully reminded me that we live under the "NEW COVENANT"(Galatians chapter 3)not under the LAW.
ReplyDeleteAgain let us extend the forgiveness we have received to others.
We are on THIS SIDE OF THE CROSS. Thank you LORD.
Why do some believe that Jesus lives only in the church? I have no issue with not being in a church and still worshiping the way I feel is right for me. I think surrounding yourself with positive (wherever you find it) is MUCH better than staying around the negative even if it is in church.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible spesks often on what our attitudes towards our brothers and sisters should be.
ReplyDeleteJames 5:16
1John 3:14-15
1John 4:20-21
Our duty as Christians is to draw others closer.
Is that possible if we only associate with those we feel comfortable with,or believe exactly as we do?
Jesus came to heal the sick. Are we not suppose to try to mirror that?
To all who think 'religion' or attending church isn't necessary to be a Christian I ask how you are able to follow what Jesus commanded in His Bread of Life discourse. Are you eating and drinking the Body and Blood of Christ? If not, you need to pay serious attention to His words. Jesus let many disciples walk away from Him rather than change the hard words He told them. John 6: 48-68
ReplyDeleteI remind people who think everything they need comes from the Bible that Jesus did not leave us a Bible - he left us a Church led by Peter and the Apostles. MT 16:16-19. That means a liturgy (clearly spoken of in the Acts and Epistles and the earliest Church Fathers) and a community of believers who worship together and who are all 'on the same page' so to speak.
