What Have You Stopped Agreeing With?

The reason people awaken is because they have finally stopped agreeing with things that insult their soul.
 - Anonymous

A friend posted this quote on Facebook earlier this week and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I wondered what the agenda was. What are people awakening from? Who said it? I spent almost an hour search the Internet to find the source of the quote, to no avail.
Here are a few things on my list of things that I have  stopped agreeing to:
  1. God is mad at me.
  2. I’m not good enough.
  3. Men are better than women.
  4. Other people’s choices define how I live my life.
  5. I cannot share the good news of Jesus’s love and sacrifice because I’m female.
  6. Everyone not born into a small sect in Oregon City is doomed, worldly, unworthy of God’s love.
  7. Seeking medical intervention for children (and adults) who are suffering is defying God.
  8. Commandments and biblical rules are given to scare us into obedience.
  9. People cannot change.
  10. I’m going to Hell.
There are more, but I'd rather hear from you ... what things have you stopped agreeing to?

  1. I've stopped agreeing that I have to be like everyone else and following in their footsteps. I'm me, and that's plenty enough for me to be.

  9. I've stopped agreeing to the way a woman should look in the present society. Why should an old woman worry about facial hair? Would nature have produced it in the latter years without purpose? I refust to shave the fine hair from my upper jaw.

  11. Stopping by to read and comment after reading your post in the Facebook group. I think you have shared an important concept, because negative self-talk and beliefs tend to become self-fulfilling prophecies and adversely affect our lives.

So I'm still working on that: stop accepting negative self-talk, as well as negativity in general hurled at me from other people, and accentuate the positive, believing that God created me for a purpose, to be a blessing to others.

  13. I've stopped agreeing that my self worth is based on what job I have or how much money I make. It's funny... I almost typed "that my self worth is based on what I do for a living".... and I realized that that phrase is so wrong. What I do for a living is so much more than what I do to make money, but that's how our culture sees it.

  16. I have stopped thinking that I can work my way into heaven. I have stopped fearing the wrath of GOD. I have stopped thinking that I belong to the only group of people who are going to heaven. My prayers are that my kinds men also come to this realization. But the I cans are so much better. I can embrace the coming of our LORD. I can embrace that I will go to heaven not on works. But on the promise of GOD. And by the blood of JESUS. I can seek GOD. I can knock and the door will be opened. I can seek and I will find him. There are so many promises that I can lay claim to. The I cans are so much better. Thank you JESUS for your work on the cross. Thank for paying the debt that I could not pay. But As a sinner deserve death and hell. The payment that I could never pay. Thank you for paying that sin debt for me. And I will live for you. Thank you for the promise. Wow oh wow freedom from the prison I was in. Suzi the I cans are so much better. But one has to get to the place of I have stopped before one can get to the I cans. I know for I was raised in the same place with the same beliefs also

  17. I have stopped trying to work my way into heaven. I have stopped thinking that I am part of a group that thinks that they are the only church of GOD. I have stopped going to sleep in fear of hell. But Suzanne the I CANS are so much better. I can lay hold of the promses of GOD. I can get in to the body of JESUS CHRIST. I can knock and he will answer. I can seek and you will find. I can ask and it will be given. I can go to heaven not by my works but by the blood of Christ. I can find a Christ believing church. I can do all of this not by myself, not because I am Good enough, not because of my doings. But by the promises of GOD. I can lay hold to all of this because I have stopped trying to do it by myself. I can because I have stopped fighting aginst GODS word and trying to make it fit what I thought it should fit. The I cans are so much better. Thank you JESUS for your work on the cross. Thank you for paying the debt that I deserved as a sinner I deserved death and hell. But you paid the debt for me. Thank you for your promises. Thank you for taking what I deserved even know you did not deserve the penalty. Wow the I can are nice. If you want the I cans you too can lay hold to these claims. You to can break free of these chains that Inprision you. You can because Jesus says you can, not because I say but Jesus says. Break free today and don't look back. Whosoever will this can be you

  19. Suzi,
I've got to ask why you say you don't post often because your blog is religious? Many of my favorite blogs are religion-heavy, and I think all these comments indicate that you've definitely got an audience!
I've stopped agreeing with the fact that I have to care about other people's opinion of me. Since my school days, wondering what people think of me has determined much of my attitudes about myself. Now that I'm older, it's much easier to just do what I think is right and good, and turn my back on negative opinions.
